It starts with a subconscious stoking of a spark in my imagination, somewhere between dream and reality. While images and concepts simmer, I work to prepare that empty, smooth, sexy white surface. Finally I dive deep into creating - pushing and pulling paint, cycling between working with meticulous control and letting go to the flow. On serendipitous occasions the muse will appear and lead me to a graduated level of experience. I lose sense of space and time and become completely owned by my craft. Whatever the final product might be, it is both an escape and an introspection, it is me and it is the world around me.
I am inspired by experiences that invigorate the soul, thus my paintings largely revolve around themes of nature, music, sex, nature...and bikes! In my own brand of modern expressionism, I work with acrylic, oil and watercolors for the ebb and flow each medium provides, leaving me to play the edge and explore the balance. I utilize gestural subjects, expressive palettes and strokes in order to energize each piece with its own sense of movement and life.
